Tesla referral code, checked against Tesla's own page
Open this link before you configure your Tesla. There is no box to type a code into at checkout — the link carries it.
john580308Works in: United States store (default — your country is checked in your browser)
US store: 3 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) on Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck (Premium AWD and Cyberbeast); $400 off solar panels and Powerwall — on Tesla's page, Oct 3, 2026.
Referral link: if you order through it, the code's owner may earn Tesla credits. Tesla applies your benefit when you order. We're independent of Tesla. How this works
How do I use a Tesla referral code?
Short answer
Open the owner's referral link, then choose and order your car from that page in the same visit. Tesla's checkout has no box for typing a code — the link is how the code travels.
Open the link above before you configure anything.
The code is the last part of a
tesla.com/…/referral/address. We point it at your country's store; check the store name under the code.Check the page that opens.
It should say “Order with [name]'s Referral” and show a benefit on the car you want. If it says the referral limit has been reached, that code gives you nothing — reload this page for another code.
Pick your car from that page.
A custom order or a new inventory car both qualify under Tesla's terms. Pre-owned cars don't.
Place the order in the same visit, signed in to the account you'll keep.
Tesla's terms tie benefits to a Tesla Account, and a referral link can't be added once the order exists.
Text version of this diagram
- Open the referral link before configuring.
- Check the page shows the owner's name and a benefit.
- Pick a custom or new inventory car from that page.
- Place the order in the same visit and account.
- Tesla attaches the referral and applies the buyer benefit.
- Check your order; keep a screenshot of step 2.
Tesla's terms don't describe where the referral shows after you order. Take a screenshot of the referral page with your benefit on it before you order — it's the simplest proof if you need to ask Tesla later.

Can I add a referral code after I've ordered?
Short answer
No. Tesla's terms say it plainly: “Referral links cannot be applied after you place your order.” The US and UK terms both say it.
Stories about a Tesla advisor adding a code after the fact are individual accounts, not a policy, and the current terms say the opposite. If you've ordered but not taken delivery, you have two imperfect options — asking, or cancelling and re-ordering — and both have costs. What you can still do after ordering walks through them case by case.

Where do I find my own Tesla referral code?
Short answer
In the Tesla app: tap the menu in the top-right corner, then “Refer and Earn”, then “Refer Now”. You need a qualifying Tesla product on that account.
Your code works in every Tesla store — the code stays the same and only the store part of the address changes. Once you transfer or remove every qualifying product from your account, Tesla says your link stops being valid. More detail, including the yearly limit and how to share it without breaking Tesla's rules, is in finding and sharing your own code.

Does a referral code work on a used, inventory or demo Tesla?
Short answer
New inventory cars: yes. Pre-owned cars: no. Tesla's terms say you “must custom order or purchase a new inventory vehicle”; they don't mention demo cars separately.
The US terms say “pre-owned vehicles are not qualifying products”; the UK terms say “Certified Pre-Owned”. If a car is sold as a demo, ask whether Tesla is selling it to you as new or as used before you rely on a referral. Inventory, demo and used cars, store by store has the details, including which referral pages show an inventory shortcut.

Does a Tesla referral code work on Cybertruck?
Short answer
In the US, yes for Premium AWD and Cyberbeast: Tesla's referral page showed 3 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) on Oct 3, 2026. Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD is excluded.
The US terms are explicit: “Cybertruck Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive is eligible for loyalty benefits only and cannot be purchased to earn buyer or referrer benefits.” The Canadian referral page also showed 3 months of FSD (Supervised) on Cybertruck (Sep 25, 2026) but didn't name trims. The UK, Irish and German referral pages we checked showed no Cybertruck card at all.
Cybertruck's referral benefit has changed more than any other model's — it was $1,000 off as recently as March 2026. See the changelog.

Why didn't my Tesla referral code apply?
Short answer
Usually one of four things: you ordered before opening the link, the owner had used up their 10 referrals for the year, you've owned a qualifying Tesla product before, or the car didn't qualify.
The second one surprises people. Tesla's FAQ says: “If you have reached your referrer benefits limit, buyers who place their order using your referral link will not receive any buyer benefits.” Tesla's page tells you before you order — it reads “Referral Limit Has Been Reached” instead of “Order with [name]'s Referral”.
Text version of this diagram
Working code: heading “Order with [name]'s Referral”, and each car card shows a benefit line (for example “3 mo. Full Self-Driving (Supervised)”). Capped code: heading “[name]'s Referral Limit Has Been Reached”, and the car cards show no benefit.
Every case, with what you can still do, is in why a referral didn't attach.

Is a Tesla referral code the same as a promo code?
Short answer
No. A referral code is an existing owner's personal link. The benefit is set by Tesla for your country's store, and you get it by ordering from that link — not by typing anything in.
Tesla's referral terms describe referral links only. They say nothing about promo codes for cars, and there's no field in the car order to enter one. A referral also isn't a price cut in every store: in the US it's currently a Full Self-Driving trial, in the UK free Supercharging miles, in Australia and Japan money off. Tesla's terms add that benefits are “non-transferable and not redeemable for cash”.

What does the person who referred me get?
Short answer
Tesla Credits (in some stores, Supercharging credits), for up to 10 referrals per calendar year, each expiring 12 months after Tesla grants it. Tesla's public terms don't state the amount.
US store: Tesla Credits, up to 10 order referrals per calendar year (plus up to 30 demo-drive referrals over the account's life), each expiring 12 months after the Grant Date. Tesla's US terms don't state the amount; the Tesla app shows it.
The referrer's reward shows as “pending” in their app until the Grant Date. Ohio and Virginia residents can get buyer benefits but not referrer benefits. Their reward and your benefit are separate items in Tesla's terms. Referrer rewards in detail.

Can I use two referral codes, or one twice?
Short answer
No. Buyer benefits apply once — on your first qualifying Tesla product — and Tesla says a referral link “cannot be used by the same Tesla Account more than once”.
Buying a second Tesla later? You won't get buyer benefits again, but Tesla's “loyalty benefits” may apply when you buy another qualifying product on the same account — up to 10 times over the account's life.

Which Tesla models does a referral cover in my country?
Short answer
In the US store: Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck (Premium AWD and Cyberbeast only — not Dual Motor AWD), plus solar panels and Powerwall. Model S and Model X are no longer covered in the stores we checked.
Here is what each store's referral page showed, on the date we read it. Stores not listed: we haven't verified them — check what Tesla's page shows before you order.
| Store | Buyer benefit shown | Checked |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 3 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) on Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck (Premium AWD and Cyberbeast); $400 off solar panels and Powerwall | |
| Canada | 3 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) on Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck | |
| United Kingdom | 650 free Supercharging miles on Model 3 and Model Y | |
| Ireland | 1,000 free Supercharging km on Model 3 and Model Y | |
| Germany | 1,000 free Supercharging km on Model 3 and Model Y | |
| Australia | up to A$350 off (the Model 3 card showed $350 off; the Model Y card showed no figure) | |
| New Zealand | NZ$400 off (Model 3 card; inventory "up to $400 off") | |
| Japan | ¥35,000 off Model Y and Model 3 |
Model S and Model X dropped off the US referral page between the Mar 1 and Apr 1, 2026 captures; Tesla's US terms (updated Feb 24, 2026) list only Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck and solar panels as qualifying products. In Norway, both pages we captured were capped codes, so we couldn't read the benefit.

Does a referral code work on a business or fleet order?
Short answer
Tesla's referral terms don't say. They're written around individual customers, a Tesla Account, and your first qualifying product — ask Tesla before you order on a company's behalf.
Two clauses matter if you try: benefits go to the primary account holder only, and buyer benefits only apply to the first qualifying product on that account. Neither tells you how Tesla treats a company buyer, so we won't guess.

Does a referral code work on Tesla solar or Powerwall?
Short answer
In the US, Tesla's referral page showed $400 off “Solar Panels & Powerwall” on Oct 3, 2026. Solar panels only qualify if Tesla installs them.
One catch: Tesla's FAQ says that if you already own a qualifying Tesla energy product, “you cannot use a friend's referral link” — you get loyalty benefits instead. Note the terms list “solar panels” as the qualifying energy product, while the referral page card says “Solar Panels & Powerwall”; ask Tesla which applies before you rely on it for a Powerwall-only order.

Is it safe to use a referral code from a site like this?
Short answer
Yes, if the link opens tesla.com. Using a referral costs you nothing, and this site asks you for nothing — no sign-up, no payment, no personal details.
Check the address bar says tesla.com before you sign in or pay. Never enter Tesla account details on any other site. This site is run independently, isn't Tesla, and the code's owner may earn Tesla credits if you order — who runs this site and how the referral relationship works.
Tesla's terms also say it won't honor referral links tied to “paid advertising, selling or paying or offering incentives”. We offer nothing in exchange for using a code.

What changed in Tesla's referral program recently?
Short answer
Model S and Model X left the US referral page by Apr 1, 2026, and Cybertruck moved from $1,000 off to 3 months of FSD (Supervised). Model 3 and Model Y have shown the FSD trial since at least Sep 2025.
- — US page unchanged since April: Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck 3 months FSD (Supervised); solar and Powerwall $400 off.
- — Model S and Model X gone from the US page; Cybertruck switches to 3 months FSD (Supervised).
- — Tesla updates its US terms; Model S and X no longer listed as qualifying.
Every dated change since late 2024, with its source, is in the program changelog.
