Does a Tesla referral in Canada come with free Supercharging?
Not on the Canadian referral page we last read. The free-charging figures you see online come from other countries' pages.

What changed
No. On our capture of Tesla's Canadian referral page dated Sep 25, 2026, the Model Y, Model 3 and Cybertruck cards each showed 3 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) — no Supercharging line. Free Supercharging distance is what Tesla's UK and German referral pages showed. Meanwhile Canadian Supercharger prices changed again on Sep 24, 2026, so budget at the prices in your app.
What the Canadian referral page shows
Every owner's referral page in a country shows the same benefit cards. On our capture of Tesla's Canadian referral page dated Sep 25, 2026:
| Card | What it showed |
|---|---|
| Model Y | 3 mo. Full Self-Driving (Supervised) |
| Model 3 | 3 mo. Full Self-Driving (Supervised) |
| Cybertruck | 3 mo. Full Self-Driving (Supervised) |
| Demo Drive | Experience Full Self-Driving (Supervised) |
There was no Supercharging line on any card. The benefit is FSD time, nothing more. The demo-drive card is for people booking a drive, not a purchase benefit. And the cards say nothing about a value in dollars, so we don't put one on it either. If you'd rather have charging than FSD time, the referral doesn't offer that choice in Canada on the page we read.
Where the free-Supercharging idea comes from
Other countries' referral pages do offer charging, and articles written for them get read in Canada:
| Country | Benefit on Tesla's referral page | Our capture |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | 650 free Supercharging miles on Model 3 and Model Y | Sep 29, 2026 |
| Germany | 1,000 free Supercharging km on Model 3 and Model Y | Oct 1, 2026 |
| Canada | 3 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) on Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck | Sep 25, 2026 |
| United States | 3 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) on Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck | Oct 3, 2026 |
Europe also ran a larger 2,000 km campaign that ended earlier this year — our note on it has the dates.
What happened to Supercharger prices
Drive Tesla Canada reported on Sep 24, 2026 that Tesla had adjusted Supercharger prices across Canada again, less than two weeks after a round of increases on Sep 11. It reviewed every Canadian location and found 240 with changed prices: 170 up, 70 down. Its examples:
- Calgary and Edmonton: Tesla owners pay $0.48/kWh, down from $0.57.
- Saskatoon: $0.54 down to $0.48/kWh.
- Enfield, Nova Scotia: peak rate up to $0.75/kWh, from $0.71 (it was $0.64 before Sep 11).
Those are the outlet's figures on Sep 24, 2026. Tesla's app and in-car navigation show live pricing, and the outlet says so too. Prices moved twice in two weeks, in both directions, so any figure you read in an article — including these — can be out of date by the time your car arrives.
Why the UK and Europe can offer charging and Canada doesn't
The referral program runs country by country. The code is the same everywhere; the country part of the link changes, and each country's page carries its own cards. Tesla's UK terms explain the mechanism behind the charging offers: buyer and referrer benefits are added “as Supercharging credits or Tesla Credits” depending on the vehicle, UK Supercharging credits show in the app under “Charging,” and UK buyer benefits expire 12 months after the Grant Date. Nothing on the Canadian page we read describes Supercharging credits for buyers. If you're in Canada, the link resolves to the Canadian page, so what you see there is what applies.
Why this matters before you order
If you're budgeting a first Tesla on the assumption that the referral covers some charging, it doesn't — not on the Canadian page we last read. Budget charging at the prices shown in the app for the sites you'll use. The referral is still worth opening if FSD time is useful to you: it costs nothing, and Tesla applies it at checkout.
Check the date
Our Canadian capture is from Sep 25, 2026. Tesla can change the cards at any time. Read the card on the referral page the day you order — that's what Tesla applies.
What hasn't changed
The kind of benefit on Canada's page as we last read it — FSD time — and the rules around it. A referral link “cannot be applied after you place your order,” the buyer benefit is only for your first qualifying Tesla product, and Tesla says buyers using a link whose owner has reached the yearly limit “will not receive any buyer benefits.”
What to do now
Read the Canadian card, not a UK or German one.
Open the referral link and check the line on your model's card before you configure.
Budget charging at app prices.
Prices changed on Sep 11 and again on Sep 24, 2026; the Tesla app shows the live rate per site.
Ignore “free Supercharging” claims for Canada.
Unless Tesla's Canadian referral page shows it on the day you order.
