Tesla referral figures across Asia-Pacific in 2026: what held, what moved

We read every 2026 copy we have of nine Asia-Pacific referral pages. Most figures didn't move. The bigger story is which car each figure sits on.

Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines

What changed

Across nine Asia-Pacific countries, Tesla's referral figures didn't change in any 2026 copy we read. What differs is which car carries them: in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan the Model Y card shows no figure, while Japan and the Philippines show one on Model Y and Model 3. Thailand and Malaysia added a Model Y figure mid-year.

Why a check of things that mostly didn't change

Figures for Asia-Pacific Tesla referrals get copied from site to site long after Tesla's page has moved on — Australia's “A$1,400” is one we never see on a Tesla page. So we read every 2026 copy we have of nine Asia-Pacific referral pages and wrote down three things for each: the figure, the cars it's printed on, and the newest date we saw it.

“Older” means our newest copy is more than three months old. Those rows tell you what the page said then, not today. Not verified for later dates — check what Tesla's page shows before you order.

What held

In all nine countries, the figure on the newest copy matches the figure on the January copy. Japan, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan show no change at all in the copies we read. If a site quotes a different number for any of these countries, ask which Tesla page and which date it comes from.

What moved: Model Y in Thailand and Malaysia

In January, Thailand's and Malaysia's Model Y cards were blank, like Australia's. Malaysia's Aug 28 copy and Thailand's Sep 29 copy show the figure on Model Y too, with the note “Excl. Launch Series”. The amount didn't change; the car list did. Malaysia's card still read “New Model Y” with no figure on its Jul 10 copy, and Thailand's on Jul 12. By the later copies it read “Model Y Excl. Launch Series”, at RM 1,000 off and ฿8,500 off, the same as Model 3. So in both countries a Launch Series Model Y is the one Model Y that gets no referral figure.

Why the Model Y card is blank in most countries

The blank card isn't a display glitch. Tesla's terms for Australia (May 20, 2026 copy), New Zealand (May 13), Singapore (May 18), Hong Kong (Jun 14), Malaysia (May 15) and Thailand (May 14) all list Model 3 as the only car that earns buyer and loyalty benefits, while the owner earns referrer benefits on both Model 3 and Model Y. The Philippines' terms (May 13, “Effective August 8, 2025”) list both cars for buyers, matching its page. We haven't read the Japanese or Taiwanese terms for this check.

So in most of the region, buying a first Model Y through a referral gives you no buyer benefit on those terms. The figure in the heading is an “up to” for a reason. That includes the six-seat Model Y L, which Drive Tesla Canada reported launching in Australia and New Zealand on Mar 12, 2026: no Model Y L card appeared on the Australian page, and the terms still name Model 3 as the only buyer-benefit car.

Check the address

All nine countries are now in this site's country list: when your browser's time zone or language points to one of them, the link on this page opens Tesla's referral page for that country. The code is the same in every country. Check the address shows your country — for example /ja_jp/, /en_au/, /en_sg/ or /th_th/ — before you configure.

What hasn't changed anywhere

In every country whose terms we read, the benefit is for your first qualifying Tesla only, Certified Pre-Owned cars don't qualify, the link has to be open before you order, and an owner who has reached 10 referrals this calendar year passes on no buyer benefit. A referral page also isn't a price list: financing lines printed on the same cards aren't part of the referral.

What to do now

  1. Open the referral link for your own country.

Read the card for the car you want, not just the heading.

  2. Buying a Model Y?

In Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan the Model Y card was blank on our copies. Don't count on a figure; confirm on the order summary.

  3. Using one of our older rows?

New Zealand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore were last seen in June or July. Treat those figures as history until you've seen Tesla's page.

  4. Confirm before you pay.

If the figure isn't on your order summary, ask Tesla before you place the order — a referral can't be added afterwards.
