Program update · Referral program

FSD is “Tesla Assisted Driving” in Europe now. Does a European referral include it?

A new name and three new national approvals, but no change on the European referral pages we've read: they give Supercharging kilometers, not months of the software.

Europe — Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Czechia, Croatia, Slovenia and more

What changed

No. Not a Tesla App reported on Oct 8, 2026 that FSD (Supervised) is now called Tesla Assisted Driving on Tesla's European websites, and Czechia, Slovenia and Croatia approved it in September. But every European referral page we've read — Germany on Oct 1, 2026 among them — showed 1,000 km of free Supercharging on Model 3 and Model Y. The months of FSD (Supervised) appear only on the US, Canadian, Mexican and Puerto Rican pages.

What happened

Two things moved in Europe in the last month, and neither touched the referral program.

The name. Not a Tesla App reported on Oct 8, 2026 that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) “is now Tesla Assisted Driving on Tesla's European websites,” after talks with Germany's Federal Ministry for Transport. Two days earlier it had reported that Germany would back the system in the EU vote under that name, and wants the system capped at no more than 10% above the posted speed limit. Not a Tesla App says Tesla hasn't confirmed whether it has made that change yet. Germany still hasn't approved the system for its own roads.

The approvals. Electrek reported on Sep 25, 2026 that Slovenia and Czechia were among the countries that had recognized the Dutch approval nationally. Not a Tesla App reported on Sep 29 that Croatia approved it too, “the eighth European nation,” with the first rollout going only to Hardware 4 (AI4) cars; HW3 owners wait for a European v14 Lite. Its Oct 8 list of the eight: the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovenia, Czechia and Croatia.

The EU vote. Electrek reported that the EU's Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles didn't vote on Oct 6, that December is the earliest a vote can happen, and that approval needs 15 of the 27 member states representing at least 65% of the EU population.

What European referral pages show

A referral link opens Tesla's referral page for your country, and every owner's page there shows the same cards. On every European page in our captures, the Model 3 and Model Y cards showed Supercharging kilometers — not months of the software, under either name.

What Tesla's referral page showed (our captures)
CountryModel 3 and Model Y cardsCopy date
Germany1,000 km of free SuperchargingOct 1, 2026

Denmark1,000 km of free SuperchargingAug 29, 2026
Czechia1,000 km of free SuperchargingAug 29, 2026
Netherlands1,000 km of free SuperchargingAug 21, 2026
Slovenia1,000 km of free SuperchargingJul 12, 2026
Croatia1,000 km of free SuperchargingJun 17, 2026

Be clear about one gap. Our newest copies for Czechia, Slovenia and Croatia are older than their approvals, so we haven't seen those three pages since the software was approved there. Nothing we've read suggests a change, but we can't rule one out: check the card on Tesla's page for your country before you order.

The rename doesn't change how to read a card. If Tesla ever puts the software on a European referral card, it would be under whatever name Tesla uses there, so look for “Tesla Assisted Driving” as well as “FSD.” On every European copy we've read, neither name appears on a referral card: the benefit line is the kilometers.

For comparison, the referral pages that do show “3 months” of FSD (Supervised) in our captures are the US (Oct 4, 2026), Canada (Oct 5), Puerto Rico (Sep 29) and Mexico (Jul 12, older).

Who this affects

  • European buyers who searched for an FSD or “TAD” referral: there isn't one on the pages we've read. The referral gives kilometers.
  • Buyers in Czechia, Croatia and Slovenia: approval means the software can be offered in your country. It isn't the same as the referral page giving it away.
  • Anyone seeing an ad for “free Tesla Assisted Driving with my code” in Europe: no European referral page we've read offers that. Tesla's terms also say paid advertising of referral links “is not appropriate.”

Kilometers can change

Europe's kilometers have changed before: Germany's page showed 2,000 km in April 2026 and went back to 1,000 km by May. How that campaign started and ended.

What hasn't changed

How a European referral works. You open the owner's link before you configure, order from that page, and the benefit is tied to that order — referral links “cannot be applied after you place your order.” It's for your first qualifying Tesla only. The referral doesn't include Tesla Assisted Driving. The US benefit name on US pages, “Full Self-Driving (Supervised),” is unchanged.

What to do now

  1. Expect kilometers, not software.

On the European pages we've read, the referral benefit is 1,000 km of free Supercharging on Model 3 and Model Y.

  2. Check your own country's card.

Especially in Czechia, Croatia and Slovenia, where our copies predate the approvals.

  3. Treat “free TAD with my code” claims as false.

No European referral page we've read offers it.

  4. Look again after December.

If the EU votes then, re-read the card on Tesla's referral page before you order.
